The email leak saw 20,000 hacked Democratic National Committee emails leaked on whistleblower website WikiLeaks last week. Among the emails' revelations are that it appears some in the DNC were trying to discredit Bernie Sanders in his push to become the Democratic presidential nominee. The DNC email leak has so far lead to one high-profile resignation: that of DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. In recent days the government has come to believe that the hack could have been state sponsored by Russia, looking to discredit the Democratic party and help Trump win the White House, reports CNN. The FBI steered clear of mentioning Russia, but in a statement the agency said:
"The FBI is investigating a cyber intrusion involving the DNC and are working to determine the nature and scope of the matter. A compromise of this nature is something we take very seriously, and the FBI will continue to investigate and hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace."
