Facebook continues to be a money-making machine, bringing in $8.81 billion in revenues in the fourth-quarter, up 51% from $5.84 billion a year earlier, and beating analysts' expectations by hitting earnings of $1.41 pre share, above predictions of $1.31 EPS. And mobile was the dominant platform, bringing in 84% of all ad revenues, up from 80% in Q4 of 2015.
All told, Facebook now has 1.86 billion monthly active users, up 17% year-over-year, and 1.74 billion monthly mobile active users, up 21% from a year earlier. The company has an astounding 1.23 billion daily active users. That means that 16.4% of people on Earth use Facebook every day. The company will elaborate on its quarter, and hopefully address questions about the performance of live video, Oculus, Instagram Stories, and more during its earnings conference call at 5 p.m. ET.
